I grew up in a small town in North Louisiana, where the only school was Pre-K through 12th grade, and I attended there from start to finish. It's no surprise that a school that small didn't offer any art or music classes, but it didn't stop me from teaching myself. During my spare time, I enjoyed building furniture or refurbishing pieces, sketching floor plans, rearranging furniture in all the rooms to find the most convenient layout, and painting and drawing.
Seeing my interest in art and design, my grandmother encouraged me to pursue Interior Design. I had no idea I could even go to college for that. So, I did my research and I started attending Louisiana State University in the Fall of 2014, after my high school graduation. I took my first art classes at LSU and have learned so much that contributes to my future design career.
Moving from a village with a population of less than 500 people, Baton Rouge was the "big city". The summer before my junior year, I took an internship in Barcelona, Spain under the architect Ferran Grau. I realized then just how small Baton Rouge really was. My time in Spain has had a heavy influence on my design work, as well as my thesis.

"We often forget that we are nature. Nature is not something separate from us. So when we say that we have lost our connection to nature, what we are really saying is we've lost our connection to ourselves."
Andy Goldsworthy
